The records were collected by William G. Rusch, director for ecumenical relations from 1979-1987. The wide variety of files in this set of records indicates the range of involvement of the Division for World Mission and Ecumenism in ecumenical activity. These include committee work such as the Committee on Ecumenical Relations, organization work with such groups as the Ecumencial Development Cooperative Society and the Conference of Synodical Bishops, study and task groups, and world interdenominational groups such as the YWCA and the World Student Christian Federation. There is a major section of files (boxes 7 and 8) that document the study that resulted in the 1982 Statement on Ecumenism. There are also files of reports on trips that Rusch made, including that of a trip to Rome in 1986 called the Bishop's Pilgrimage.
